Another year, another adventure. For my last post of 2006, I've uploaded 2 new pencil works in the Black & White Section to close things out.  2007 is looking like it could be a very busy one for me on the drawing front.  I don't want to get too over-excited and jinx things, so I better just update you when I get closer to those projects coming to fruition.  Until then, have a joyous holiday season filled with friendship, warmth, and much laughter. See you all again in 2007!

The end of August is nigh and September is rising.  Time to start thinking about the color burst of Fall leaves, the crisp air, the pumpkin patch, and what Halloween costume I'll get into this year.  Hope you enjoyed your summer.

The wonderful people over at Digital Bits have named me as their Artist of the Month for September.  This is a great thrill for me, and I want to thank them whole heartedly for the honor.  If you get a moment, click over to their site and check out the fine work they do each and every day.

I've added a new color piece which was one that I hold very dear.  It was a pleasure working on my good friend's wedding portrait, and they were very VERY patient in waiting for this one.  It's actually a mix of black and white and color, but since the color section here needs some beefing up, I figured I'd put it there.  The final piece was around 24" x 32" and was done entirely in watercolor.  Enjoy.

Also updated are 2 new pieces for Lightsabre.  These are of Aurran and Galgen, two characters from Lightsabre's expanded universe of original Star Wars stories.  Look for more characters for them in the months to come.  Special congrats to the owner and webmaster of Lightsabre, Mark Newbold, for his upcoming wedding in October.  Cheers mate.

My schedule is filled and my free time is nil, which means I'll be working on artwork this Fall for a variety of sites and projects.  So check back for updates.  Happy Autumn everyone.

Hey some updates!!  First and foremost Season's Greetings to everyone!  Now on with the new stuff.  I've finally gotten around to scanning in some sketches and adding them.  There are 8 new pieces in the Black & White Section on pages 4 and 5.  In keeping with my usual "unfinished" theme, all of these sketches are in the production stage in varying phases of completion, which almost all my art seems to be these days.  And others are line art for more finished work described below.  Hopefully these were worth the long wait.

Among my current commissions and personal projects, three have been completed and I'm very happy with the final results.  One, as mentioned several months ago, is the artwork for Eric Nail's debut fantasy novel called Wave Wranglers.  I've dedicated an entire page to the final artwork, close ups and concept sketches that went into this project.  All told the final piece was something to the tune of 18" x 25.5" and finished in watercolor.  It was my first watercolor piece in quite sometime, and an ambitious one at that, but I as very satisfied with the results.  And the client is happy, so that's what really matters.  The book should be finished and published soon, and I'll definitely post the good news once that happens.  In the meantime, enjoy the artwork!

Another project I was fortunate to work on was band art for my good friend Jamie with Baltimore rock group A Perfect Excuse (formerly Hyper Chyld).  The band is charting new territories musically and with that comes fresh artwork requests for me.  Which I am, as always, very happy to oblige.  These guys are great clients and put on a hell of a rock show.  You can view the artwork in the color section.

Lastly, my stained glass experiment turned out rather well for being only my 2nd piece I've ever worked on.  My first stained glass piece was just a small job we did in class to get our feet wet.  But my Four Seasons piece was the reason I learned stained glass in the first place and had over 200 individual pieces to cut, grind, smooth, and solder.  Learning stained glass was really great and I hope to make more in this medium when time permits.  You definitely have to enjoy the process, but the end results are well worth the time and energy.  You can check out how it turned out in the Color Section, since I don't have enough glass pieces to dedicate a new page to.  Maybe down the road.

On the bill for early 2006 is definitely finishing up some character commissions from the good people at Lightsabre.  Lightsabre is a fan-run Star Wars universe site founded by Mark Newbold.  Mark was kind enough to contact me and ask me to handle some character interpretations to compliment their RPG scenarios and website.  I'll be creating a total of 5 characters, and 2 I've half fleshed out in the Black & White Section.  The whole gang should be completed after the holidays, so stay tuned!  Happy 2006 everyone!

Well, it's been an extremely, un-godly long time since I've updated or posted some current artwork or news about the latest happenings at WannsWorld. My site is feeling so neglected these days, it doesn't even come when I call it anymore, just out of spite. So I need to throw it a bone, scratch it behind the ear and hopefully amends will be made.  Good doggy.

Even though my lack of updates don't reflect it, I've been very busy with all kinds of artwork.  During the winter I learned stained glass, which is definitely a time-intensive but rewarding medium.  I'll post some images of my first project soon.  I've also been working on many logo projects for various clients.  I soon plan to have a 'logos' section to showcase all the work I've done in that area.

The biggest news is that currently I'm working on a cover art project for writer Eric Nail's debut fantasy novel.  The book may also include inside illustrations, which I have my fingers crossed for.  It's an exciting project and hopefully soon I can show some work being done for that, but I'll have to get Eric's blessings before doing so since he'll own the artwork.  Details are coming.

On a personal note within the last few months I've moved from the comfy suburbs of Baltimore to the charming heart of Baltimore City.  Between developing a wonderful courtship with a terrific girlfriend, moving to the big city, getting familiar with my new surroundings, and still taking on all the freelance work I can snag... It's been an exciting past several months for me.

Keep the faith, artwork, a new section or two and updates are coming.  Thank you guys for your patience with the Wann-man.
